Joe Robbins/Getty ImagesAs Georgia makes a second attempt to turn the state blue for its Senate runoff election, entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban urged people on Twitter to donate their campaign dollars to local food banks instead.
"For those considering donating to Reps or Dems in the Georgia Senate run-offs, can you please re-consider and donate that money to your local foodbank and organizations that can help those without food or shelter? Lets put Americans in need above Politics," Cuban wrote.
His comments were met with anger from some users on Twitter, including singer John Legend and California Representative Ted Lieu.
Lieu responded to Cuban noting that the government does play a role in food insecurity and deserts across the nation.
Cuban, a billionaire, received a lot of negative feedback for his tweets from other Twitter users, considering his net worth could account for a few of the nation's problems.
Georgia's runoff election for Senate seats will be held in January. Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are up against Democratic contenders Jon Ossoff and Reverened Raphael Warnock.
