Thank you so much, these were only engraved about 0.3-0.4mm deep so it's really easy even with a cheap hobby CNC. As for the plastic I use SBS filament that can handle quite a high heat and only becomes a little more rubbery when heated and not deform like PLA, but yes I do think it might become a problem with PLA filament.

Thank you!
Thank you for adding the resistor values, as for the heating because everything the led chip is attached to is solid brass I found that it barely even gets warm but I do think going with a more powerful led (3 or 5W) would cause an issue.
Exactly!! :)
View Instructable »Thank you :)It's not clear in the photos but there is a flat spot in the brim on the positive side. You are 100% correct with the square wire, unfortunately the only ones I could find online is square machining stock and it's a lot more expensive and not available to me.Non-ferrous metals soften by heating and quenching or you could just work it hot but it's much more dangerous.

Step 10 shows how it is constructed, on top of the comb shaped graphene I placed some cotton wool soaked in an electrolyte.
Hi, the laser energy converts the polyimide film used as the base material of Kapton into a sort of graphene foam.
View Instructable »Hi John, it is the polyimide film used as the base material of Kapton tape that gets turned into graphene when hit with the laser.

That's a brilliant idea! You could even add an additional distortion circuit.
Hi!The input is digital via the USB and is decoded with the super cheap USB DAC modules.

Hi!Thank you for pointing that out, I completely forgot to add it to the schematic. It is powered by a lm317lz with two 1k resistors. I will upload an updated schematic soon.Thank you

Thanks for the tip I didn't know about that, it would make for a much cleaner install! :)
I just had a look and that's a really neat idea! I haven't seen lights like that available locally (international shipping to South Africa is a nightmare) so I might just end up designing a similar switch from scratch.
